Rubella is a very contagious disease in which the entire skin of a baby is covered with rashes. This disease is also commonly known as “Measles” or “German Measles”. This hazardous infection can easily spread from one individual to another. It is more risky and complicated for people to take safety measures as the virus of this disease is present in the air.
The disease is caused as the virus is transmitted through close contact with the unhygienic things such as dirty hands, tissues; polluted drinking water etc.
It is also caused by the coughing and sneezing of people in front of babies. This disease is related to the respiratory system and so it spreads very fast. The babies can also transmit this disease within one week and after that the phase comes when their skin is filled with rashes or pimples. But this disease is less infectious than Rubella (a highly contagious disease) also known as “Red Measles”. Babies once recovered from this disease have the resistance to the disease for their whole life.
Most of the adults are resistant to German measles. But the babies have a very sensitive immune system. So in the start, when the babies are infected by measles they undergo fever, red painful eyes full of water, dry coughing, watery nose, headache and sleepiness which is progressed by spotty red rashes(pimples) that starts to fill inside the mouth and also on the face. These spots continuously spread down towards the feet until the complete body of a baby is covered with them. This process in which the rashes are spread-ed all over the body of a baby takes approximately 37 hours and then the white spots turns into brown colour. These rashes stay for five days on the skin of baby and then fades away.
The treatments of this disease are very limited as the disease is transmitted through the air. So the most beneficial method only available to prevent the spread of this disease is done by the use of vaccination If a pregnant woman is vaccinated during her pregnancy then it will reduce the chances of a newly born baby to be infected by measles. But it is beneficial that the baby is also vaccinated. There are a small number of vaccinations offered for measles in the market. The most excellent and the popularly recommended vaccine is “MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) immunization vaccine”. This vaccine is very helpful to protect the babies from rubella, measles and mumps.
